Privacy Policy
Piggy Press ("we," "us") publishes thepiggypress.com. This page explains what information we collect from visitors and subscribers, why, and who we share it with. We keep this simple on purpose — we don't collect more than we need to run the site and the newsletter.
What we collect
- Email address — only if you sign up for the newsletter or waitlist. That's the only personal information our signup form asks for.
- Basic usage data — standard technical information (like your browser, device, pages visited, and which site or link referred you) collected automatically via the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics described below, and by our hosting provider's server logs.
- Session recordings and click/scroll behavior — we use Contentsquare (formerly Hotjar) to record how visitors use the site — mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and page navigation — so we can find and fix confusing or broken parts of the experience.
- Reading preferences — your chosen reading level and any articles you save are stored in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device; we don't receive or store it ourselves.
We don't require an account to read Piggy Press, and we don't collect payment information — the site is free.
How we use it
- To send the daily email digest, if you've subscribed.
- To measure whether our advertising is working, and to show our ads to people likely to be interested (see Meta Pixel below).
- To see which channels bring visitors to the site and how many complete a signup, using Google Analytics.
- To watch how real visitors navigate the site (via Contentsquare) so we can fix confusing layouts or broken pages.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site.
Who we share it with
- Beehiiv — our email delivery platform. Your email address is stored with Beehiiv to send you the newsletter. See Beehiiv's privacy policy.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — we use the Meta Pixel to track ad performance (which pages are viewed, and whether a visit leads to a signup). This shares limited browsing data with Meta and may set cookies on your device. See Meta's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — tracks visits, traffic sources, and signup conversions so we know what's working. This shares limited browsing data with Google and may set cookies on your device. See Google's privacy policy.
- Contentsquare (formerly Hotjar) — records session activity (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement) to help us improve the site. See Contentsquare's privacy policy.
- Railway — our hosting provider, which runs our servers and database.
We don't sell your information to anyone, and we don't share it with any other third party beyond what's listed here.
Your choices
- Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link — one click removes you from future emails.
- You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove your saved reading preferences.
- Most browsers let you block third-party cookies, or block the Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, or Contentsquare specifically via ad-blocking extensions, if you'd rather not be tracked. Google also offers a browser opt-out add-on specifically for Analytics.
- To request that we delete your email address from our records, contact us below.
Data retention
We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Beehiiv retains a record only as needed to honor that opt-out and to comply with anti-spam law.
Children's privacy
Piggy Press is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we collect or use information, we'll update the effective date above and note the change here.
